Kola nut is also known as Cola acuminate. Tropical Africa is the native home of the towering kola tree growing up to 40 feet (13 meters) tall. Leaves are oblong-elliptical, leathery, petiolate, collected at the ends of branches of 5-15 pieces. The flowers are five-petalled, light yellow in color, reach a diameter of 2 cm, collected in panicled inflorescences; there are three red stripes on each petal. Fruit is a leathery or woody precast leaflet of 4-5 carpels. Its fruits are harvested from the forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the west coast of Africa, including Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea Bissau.
